Greek Gods and Goddesses (Pt. 3)

Apologies! I missed two days (the weekend). I'm sorry, readers. Now, where were we? Oh, yes, that's it! We were at Hades!

Hades:

Roman names: Pluto, Dis Pater, and Orcus. Hades is the Greek god of the dead, and the ruler of the underworld. He was also, at times, referred to as the god of wealth/riches because he is associated with great riches. He is the oldest son of Kronos, and the brother of Zeus and Poseidon. He is the third most powerful Greek god of Mt. Olympus. His symbols include the mint plant, serpent, dog, pomegranate, sheep, cattle, and chariot. He possessed the power of invisibility, given to him through a magical helmet. He also has control of the earth’s riches. He is the Keeper of Souls. Many people believe that, since he is the god of the underworld, he is evil. But, Hades was more often thought of as passive, rather than evil. He was also depicted as cold and stern. He cared little about what was going on in the world above. That being said, he rarely ever left the underworld, ensuring that none of his subjects ever left the domain. He strictly forbade his subjects from leaving and became enraged if anyone tried to leave, or if someone tried stealing the souls from his realm. His wrath was just as terrible for those who tried to cheat death. During the Trojan War, Hades decided to stay neutral.
