Greek Gods and Goddesses (Pt. 7)

Ares:

Roman name: Mars. Ares was the Greek god of war and perhaps the least popular of all the Olympian gods. He famously seduced Aphrodite, unsuccessfully fought with Hercules, and enraged Poseidon by killing his son Halirrhothios. His symbols include the spear and helmet, and the dog and vulture. His powers were great strength and physicality. Because he is the god of war, he is a superior fighter in battle and caused great bloodshed and destruction wherever he went. He is the son of Zeus and Hera. Some people call him the god of courage. He is the father of victory. He was extremely fierce, probably because he is the god of war. He appeared as handsome, but cruel, often carrying a bloodstained spear. His throne on Mt. Olympus is said to be covered in human skin, probably due to his cruelty. He wasn’t well liked or trusted by the ancient Greeks. During the Trojan War Ares sided with the Trojans.
