Norse Gods and Goddesses (Pt. 9)

Njord:

He’s a Norse Vanir god, the god of the sea and the waves. He’s associated with the waves, fishing, and seafaring. The twin Vanir gods Frey and Freya were his children. His most famous story is the story of his marriage with the goddess Skadi. The gods agreed to let Skadi choose any god as her husband and she accidentally chose Njord, thinking he was Baldur. Njord couldn’t stand Skadi’s home in the snowy mountains, and she couldn’t stand his home near the beach, so they left each other. There’s honestly not many stories about Njord, but he was once considered a widely-worshipped god in Norse mythology.
