Norse Gods and Goddesses (Pt. 4)

Baldur:

Baldur is the god of light, joy, purity, and the summer sun. He’s the son of the All-father Odin and the goddess Frigg. It’s said that he was so handsome and so noble that light emanated from his body and even the flowers would bow to him as he passed. He’s supposedly the most handsome of the gods. The death of Baldur started the events that would lead to Ragnarok (the end of the world in Norse Mythology). During Loki’s part, I talked about what caused Baldur’s death and how it happened. Well, it’s been said that he won’t be dead forever. His resurrection would be the signal of the end of Ragnarok and the beginning of the new world. Him and his wife, Nanna, had a son named Forseti. Nanna was filled with so much grief after Baldur’s death that she jumped into the burning boat that Baldur was in at his funeral. It’s said in some stories that Baldur (alongside Hod) will rule Asgard, after Ragnarok, in the place of Odin.
